Project name: A13 Highways Improvements, Canning Town

Client: The London Borough of Newham

Completed: Onsite

Value: £26m

Project Manager: ARUP

Engineers: Ringway Jacobs, Stockley

Public Art: Working pArts

The A13 cuts through Canning Town with a large roundabout severing the area in to two sides. As the first part of the Canning Town and Custom House Regeneration project Landscape Projects were commissioned as public realm designers for the remodelling of the roundabout and connected junctions.

The commission included the redesign of the high street, alterations to Silvertown Way and the remodelling of a number of smaller residential streets. Due to the complexity of the scheme Landscape Projects have engaged in significant consultation with statutory bodies such as TfL and local residents groups.

Throughout the project Landscape Projects have developed a consistent, uncluttered and place sensitive approach to the design seeking to tie the area together into a continuous town centre.

The project is one of the Mayor's Great Spaces.
