Landscape Projects have been commissioned to upgrade the existing shops fronts along Blackburn Rd in Accrington. The project includes redesigning the outside threshold of the shops and the coordination of their different identities within a coherent framework.
A number of different options were explored with a final proposal that includes works to the streetscape including new paving and tree planting, and works to the building façades. Landscape Projects undertook extensive consultation with the shop owners and the local council to obtain a consensus surrounding the works. Shopkeepers chose from a selection of colours and elevation treatments, all of which were designed to allow flexibility within the overall coherent approach.
